A tribute to the marque.

Since far before the second war the importer of Citroën had its offices and showroom on the Stadionplein, at the beginning of the Amstelveenseweg. On the various occasions when I made a ride in one of the models I headed for the road along the Bosbaan through the Amsterdamse Bos. I never owned a Traction Avant but made rides with acquaintances and friends, and I never owned a 2CV, although this car for most was the first car in their automotive career. My first car was an Austin Se7en, which I at the time regarded as a more serious proposition, and more my kind of avant-garde. In my early years I had seen the Traction with DS suspension on the rear wheels, and read a fantastic road test in Autovisie that later triggered me to buy a DS as soon as this was possible. After all the years that went by so swiftly I read the book by Gijs Berk on Citroën’s designer André Lefebvre, which made me realize the magic as a leading motive in all Citroëns. If I only had the chance go that route once more, without diverting to another marque! I never took photos on those first rides, being too busy to acquaint myself with the character of the automobile that was new for me at the time. But since I dreamt up the possibility to make a photo of a 2CV in combination with a GT as the latest probe in way-out new designs for the future, as a tribute to the marque. HADW
