Ray swoops into the Windy City.

Kia debuted the Ray, a compact four-door sedan that represents what Kia thinks a plug-in hybrid sedan should look like. While many of the car's flourishes would never see production, the silhouette and the general front and rear design themes could and probably will as Kia continues its style renaissance. The plug-in hybrid sedan can run for 50 miles on battery power alone and achieve triple digit fuel economy (utilizing the car's plug-in HEV mode) with a range of almost 750 miles per tank. Kia dubs its alternative powertrain developments with the EcoDynamics tag and expect the name to be used in vehicle branding. View the press release after the jump or click on the Kia Buzz link for the designer's discussion of the new concept. I know the car is named after a marine animal, but I was wondering if their next concept might be called "Bob." Could start a new naming discipline. What do you think? More.
