The Maisto Uhlenhaut made fine photos with which we were happy, but in August 2010 CMC presented a new model that made quite another picture. Parking both models next to each other it is demonstrated to our astonishment that at first sight we see that the color of the CMC is a warmer silver with a smooth look that makes one think it’s polished stainless steel. The fit of the doors is more precise and most striking in the roof. The spokes of the wheels have become as realistic as one could dream. Walking around both cars we see that a the hatch just behind the right front wheel can be taken off giving us a peak at the hidden part of the exhaust pipes. The hatch can be put back in place with two tiny magnets that make a minuscule click which is a real sensation. The chromed star up front is more delicately proportioned than the star on the Maisto model. The air intake in front of the front window of the CMC has become real. We are still uncertain whether the clocks in the instrument are working, like we would are eager to check the running of the engine that looks as if it indeed will be able to run. Then there’s the mesh carb intake cover in the hood that is held open by a tiny rod, opening the vista over the six cylinders. Looking at the photos we notice that the massive rear tires, inflated to racing pressures, have a squatting stance with a camber that just seems too negative. In the Maisto model we found two covered spare wheels, while we will find two complete wire wheels in the boot of the CMC model.
