This 1600 Super / Speedster is as perfect as I've ever seen.
Right up there with the Ralph Lauren cars in finish, but not
so eerily more than perfect. I can't believe they came out of
the factory looking this clean. And what a comment this picture
makes on the motoring habits of the U.S. today! The tiny Porsche
is surrounded by nothing but station wagons and sport utes:
a new big Jeep Commander, a Volvo wagon, a BMW X-5,
a SAAB wagon, an E-class Benz wagon, another Jeep and
some sort of Nissan ute. Okay, through the Nissan-esque item,
I can see a sedan, a Passat? (Lewis)
P.S. I was somewhat startled to discover just how many replica
Porsche Speedster Kits are available in the world today.
They come complete with authentic looking Porsche badges
and perfect lines. So for the last half hour I have been studying
Porsche Speedsters on Google Images. I THINK the one
I photographed is authentic. But now I wish I had rapped the fender
with my knuckles to hear whether it was metal or fibreglass.
Life is full of uncertainty.
