Week 30, 2006 commencing on July 24th.

La Plume in rainy Haarlem.
At four it seemed like seven.

Sunday sombre afternoon, rain in Haarlem.
Not cold though.

Everyone had to hurry, cause rain

On Saturday evening we here arrived
in the Concertgebouwbuurt
at precisely 18:32. Contrary to
the usual sequence, the topmost photo
is the first taken.

See what we mean?
The topmost photos were the earliest taken.

On the roof the summer air was pleasant
and the view surprising, summer cabins as far
as we could see. In the far distance
something that looked like a pier, Texel?

Only later, when we enlarged this photo,
the pier appeared to be a construction crane.
New rooftops in the North.

When we were having our dessert
the sky had become calm and sunset like.

Gradually the style changed from pensive
to colorfully agitated.

The solemn heavenly blue dome was broken up
by fierce and flaming cracks.

Thunderous but silent burning
red clouds rolled in like the tide.

Just in time for the coffee the turmoil
petered out and the tumultuous sky became
an opaque dark grey again.

The Fhybrid front-wheel driven hydrogen-powered scooter.
The Fhybrid scooter is a hydrogen electric hybrid two wheeler
that has emerged as Crijn Bouman's graduation project
at Delft University in Holland and it is a very different form of
two wheeler than almost anything that has come before it.
For starters, it's the only front wheel drive two wheeler going
around that we know of, has a reverse gear for parking
(another first on a scooter), and a range equivalent to that of a normal
scooter in that it can travel approximately 200 km on a full tank
of hydrogen. It doesn't make any noise or produce harmful
emissions and looks very different to normal scooter fare.

My Promised Land

In the Spring of 2002 Roger Sparks was traveling
with a virgin agenda when he landed
in America on the off chance, so it seemed at first.
But he had a plan, to meet Dr. Robert Ballard,
the discoverer of the Titanic.
