Well, those guys of the Houtkamp Collection have some lovely Astons. But who put those modern tail lights on yor feature car. Sacrilege. Almost as bad as the chrome vent on the front fender of this vintage racer at Lime Rock. But looking at the inventory of other Astons (all with the proper round tail lights, I might add)... well, what beautiful cars! Lewis

Job Cohen onthult standbeeld Spinoza. Burgemeester Job Cohen en wethouder kunst en cultuur Carolien Gehrels onthullen het standbeeld van Spinoza. Wat Erasmus is voor Rotterdam, moet Spinoza worden voor Amsterdam. Curieus genoeg had de zeventiende-eeuwse Amsterdamse filosoof geen prominent monument in zijn stad. Daar komt nu verandering in. Bij het stadhuis, vlak bij de Zwanenburgwal, waar het geboortehuis van Spinoza heeft gestaan, is een een majestueus beeld geplaatst. Spinoza heeft zijn monument te danken aan een groep vasthoudende burgers, die onder de naam 'Stichting Spinoza Monument' binnen een half jaar een ontwerp, geld en toestemming tot plaatsing geregeld wist te krijgen. Kunstenaar Nicolas Dings heeft Spinoza naast een granieten wiskundige vorm, de icosaëder, gezet - een bol met twintig gelijke driehoeken. Deze staat symbool voor Spinoza's denken: 'het universum als model, geslepen door de menselijke geest'. Mooie symbolische bijkomstigheid is dat de vorm lijkt op een diamant. Spinoza was ook diamantslijper. Guy

Phlog Lustrum

Hi Arie,

Deze week 48 is het 5 jaar geleden dat je met dit eerste plaatje de Phlog begon! 5 jaar lang heb je plaatjes geschoten en ingeplakt. Prachtige teksten bedacht. In moeilijker tijden doorgegaan om te zorgen dat er weer foto's op de Phlog stonden.
Ik heb het fijn gevonden dat je mij ook op de Phlog plaatste en de tekst daarbij bedacht! De tijd gaat snel, maar als je leuk bezig bent is dat niet erg! Dus hoop ik dat je nog lang doorgaat met de mooie foto's en teksten en dat de Phlog nog altijd hoog in lijst van Google staat!
