Peek performance. I clearly remember that pylon, Guy! Some ten years ago I went there by boat and climbed it! I went up to make photos for the energy company, of the maintenance crew, the men who would inspect the cables. Planning was that I would shoot them from the highest point while they sat in the gondola that sailed from one pylon to the other, hanging underneath the cables! But also (ha ha!) from the gondola. In calm silence I tried to suppress my fear of heights, that I more or less had overcome. My will to succeed appeared to be stronger. On three-quarter of the height we stopped, as was usual the boss said, to stop at regular intervals, and stated that the weather had become too bad to continue, it had started to rain softly. My perseverance broke immediately. I could have cried after all the tension had left me, and perhaps I did. Luckily I could use the photos which I had shot the day before, in a pylon next to the highway from Muiden to Amsterdam. Made an impactful brochure with them frightening pics! Hans

My Promised Land

In the Spring of 2002 Roger Sparks was traveling
with a virgin agenda when he landed
in America on the off chance, so it seemed at first.
But he had a plan, to meet Dr. Robert Ballard,
the discoverer of the Titanic.
