Dear Sophie.

"How much pleasure is lost in waiting."

Friday.
"Did all the shopping for the weekend!"

Max Carpedi sent us a max load of pictures
proving that the Autopian Barnfind in Portugal
wasn't the fairy tale it seemed to be.
The cars were restored, some half restored
to make a spectacular show, and they were
auctioned in Lisbon in Spring.

Lot of blue in the street today.

Later in the Wednesday afternoon
it was quite sunny.

Just after nine in the Bagels & Beans,
there was a laptop on each table, all connected
to the internet, the guests were drinking coffee
and eating a bagel and playing solitaire,
or poker with the other guests.

Autopian Barnfind in Portugal.

A photo documentary sent by Canadian car buff Damian Zwamborn. A NY retired man wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal. The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15yrs.; the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway... so, nobody made an offer on the place. The NY guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth, moved in, and set about to tear in to the barn... curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a generator, and a couple of grinders... and cut thru the welds. See what was in the barn.

till thou return unto the ground;
for out of it wast thou taken:
for dust thou art, and
unto dust shalt thou return."
