10.10.2007-15.11.2007 - Serieuze Zaken Studioos, Bilderdijkstraat 66, Amsterdam

In de Amsterdamse galerie Serieuze Zaken Studioos opent musicus, rockzanger en fotograaf Lou Reed op woensdag 10 oktober 2007 zijn foto-expositie "Lou Reed's New York". De tentoonstelling is voor het publiek geopend van 11 oktober t/m 15 november.

Lou Reed, naast John Cale, het gezicht van de invloedrijke band The Velvet Underground en bij het grote publiek vooral bekend door zijn solo wereldhits Walk on the wild side en Perfect day heeft naast zijn liefde voor muziek nog een passie: fotografie. Al meer dan 28 jaar legt hij, gedurende zijn tours, de wereld vast door zijn camera. Geïnspireerd door Andy Warhol, Billy Linich en Wim Wenders legt Reed, in zijn eerste foto-expositie, de New Yorkse "landschappen" vast. Foto's van o.a. het Empire state building, zonsondergang over de Hudson rivier en helikopters passeren de revue. Waarom alleen foto's uit New York in deze expositie? Reed: "I think Leonard Cohen had a line, `I would travel anywhere in the pursuit of beauty'. And this is the beauty of New York. I just wanted to take pictures of that, with no other motive than that."
De expositie kan bezocht worden van 11 oktober t/m dinsdag 15 november in Galerie Serieuze Zaken Studioos op de Bilderdijkstraat 66 in Amsterdam. De openingstijden zijn op woensdag t/m zaterdag van 12.00 t/m 18.00 uur en de eerste zondag van de maand van 12.00 t/m 17.00 uur.
