In Memoriam Fred Brommet.

Fred Brommet is overleden.

waited for the light to turn green and
swiftly sped on.

Fiat 1100 MM.

Max Carpedi sent a memo telling us not to forget that on 15th - 16th - 17th May, 2008, the Mille Miglia will be held. It was Enzo Ferrari who defined it "the world's greatest road race", and he was right. 80 years after inception the MM is now a world-renowned event, epitomising the passion people hold for cars - cars in the pursuit of adventure, excitement and discovery. The "Freccia Rossa" has become a symbol of that incomparable Brescia to Rome experience that will continue to be relived, each year, on every continent. Five days of intense emotions from 14 to 18 May: the first day is dedicated to the veterans of the Freccia Rossa; the second day in Brescia - with evening departure and arrival in Ferrara; on the third day everyone reaches Rome; the fourth day the rally returns, at night, to Brescia and the fifth day is the day of the awards ceremony. Each of these days is made up of countless special moments: the presentation of the cars, the departure, parades in the historic centres, spectators waiting at the hairpin curves, admirers in the parking areasand, finally, the awards. Five days of memorable experiences for everyone, in which participants live their own personal Mille Miglia.

Our (French)man in the US of A, Marc Tavernier,
has been warned not loiter on the spot and make photos.
But he was keen and quick enough to snap this one.

It's been snowing in the Ardennes, and somewhat in AMS.
Hopefully this won't impede our going to the South.

Wow, a glamorous Bombardier snow-machine! We rode around in those things a few years back when we went to Yellowstone National Park in winter. As we climbed into the tin can cabin, the operator told us to help ourselves to earplugs from a mega-supply he had on board. While the engine was loud, the banging and crashing from the treads underneath our bench seats was deafening. The treads flapped up and down over the snow drifts and ruts, and actually slapped the undersides of the benches. A great ride! Cheers, Lewis

Hi! Goeie reis! Hartelijke groeten, Hans
