| This impressive rolling sculpture was supposedly designed to be an unparalleled exquisite Bentley Drophead, and was built around 1948 by Saoutchik in Paris. In those years French body builders started constructing a wooden frame that was dressed with sheet metal, a common method we only hear about on Pebble Beach and those places, and that's how this automobile weighed around 50% more than the Bentley Standard Steel Saloon, built on the same chassis. Understandably the extra tonnage had a depressive effect on the performance. The drum brakes on the artistically enveloped front wheels choked by not getting adequate cooling air and therefore reduced the dreamed of swift and unsurpassed elegant outing to the static possession a snuffbox on wheels. |

| "Noticing the logo you probably guessed this record breaker is a Renault. He indeed is, from 1926. In the month of July of this year the drivers Plessier, Gartfield en Guillon set a new 24 hours record on the circuit of Montlhéry with an average speed of 173, 649 km/h. The car was built on a chassis of a 40CV Renault, with a six cylinder engine with a capacity of 9120 cc. The streamlined rear of the body was built on the basis of the Weymann concept, a flexible and light wooden frame covered with naugahyde," wrote Gijs Berk. |
