Week 16 2011, from April 18th.
Workdays.

"I now have a better outlook on the Zuidas!"

On the way home we saw that Tilly's hospital colleagues
left for a copter flight on a trauma assistance trip.

The weather remained utterly nice and summerly,
so we made and end-of day-bike-tour, downtown and along
the train track to Amstelveen.

Evidently sweet.

Lancia Aprilia.
Guy

The Lancia Aprilia was unveiled at the Milan Motor show in 1936 and its production started in February 1937, the month in which Vincenzo Lancia - the firm's founder - died: The four-door pillarless saloon had, in true Lancia tradition, a unit construction, combining chassis and coachwork. It was designed by Lancia in collaboration with Battista 'Pinin' Farina and is one of the first automobiles tested and developed with the help of a wind tunnel. This explains the low drag coefficient of 0.47, measured in the wind tunnel of the Politecnico di Torino. In those days this was a record for a family car. The dry weight of the Aprilia was only 900 kg. The first series (mod. 238) made from1937 to 1939 had a 1352 cc V4 engine developing 47 bhp (35 kW). The second series (mod. 438, 1939-1949) had its cylinder capacity increased to 1486 cc, which gave 48 bhp (36 kW). From 1946 to 1949 a 'lungo' (lengthened) version was also available. The Lancia factory in Turin produced a total of 20,082 cars and 7,554 conventional platform chassis for coach built (custom) bodies. Up till WWII some 1500 berlines et 120 chassis were also constructed in the Lancia factory in Bonneuil sur Marne, near Paris. These were sold in France as Lancia Ardennes, but were, except for the headlamps, identical to the Aprilia.

The Lito Sora - the biggest, baddest electric motorcycle in Montreal.
Montreal's Lito has thrown its hat into the ring with a new electric motorcycle that makes some pretty outrageous claims. A full 12 kilowatt-hours' worth of onboard lithium polymer batteries gives the Sora a massive 300 km range – that's 185 miles between charges. Or you can choose to wrap the throttle on and scream up to a top speed of 200 km/h (125 mph). With chopper/fighter bad boy looks and some interesting and innovative features like in-dash touch screen GPS and electronically adjustable ergonomics, the Sora looks like an absolute animal of a machine. You can't help but think that if it had an accessible pricetag, it would look very tempting to the average biker. By Loz Blain.

"Cap right, here we go!"

The future is here! Renault’s Twizy is promising to revolutionise the way we negotiate crowded city streets when it arrives in March next year, but will it deliver? The Twizy certainly looks like nothing else on the road. Measuring only 2.32 metres long (a Smart ForTwo is 2.69 metres), 1.19 metres wide and 1.46 metres high, it’s designed to nip around town like a scooter, but with the added protection of doors, a roof and four wheels.
