![]() The Time Is Now. A seasoned pilot and a watch brand that has lived through some of the grandest hours in aviation history. John Travolta and Breitling were destined to meet each other. John Travolta is not only a movie star and a multi-faceted actor. He is also a peerless pilot and an aviation fanatic. As a young boy in his New Jersey garden, he already used to dream as he watched planes criss-crossing the sky near the New York airports. At the age of 16, he began flight lessons, funding his passion with his first actor’s paychecks. He earned his pilot’s license when he was 19. Today, John Travolta has more than 5,000 flight hours to his credit. He is certified on eight types of aircraft, including the Boeing 747- 400 Jumbo Jet, and travels the world at the controls of his own airliner. His residence in Ocala, Florida, has its own private runway able to welcome jumbo jets, a taxiway leading to the house and a fullfledged terminal to accommodate his various flying machines. Plenty of scope to fulfill his greatest dream: to fly at least once a day. More. |

Gordon Murray Design T27 revealed. First official pictures of the world's most efficient electric car. Here is the first official picture of the world’s most efficient electric car. It’s called the Gordon Murray Design T27, and is based on the petrol-powered T25. The compact model weighs 680kg, and is shorter than a Smart ForTwo, at 2.5 metres long. Even so, there’s room for three adults and, with the rear seats flat, up to 720 litres of luggage space. Power comes from a 33bhp electric motor, giving 0-62mph in less than 15 seconds. The small battery provides a range of 100 miles, with a full charge taking about five hours. Gordon Murray Design aims to have the T27 in production in 2013, and is in talks with three potential investors. More in AutoExpress.

![]() The Goliath Werke was founded by Mr Borgward in 1928 and produced small 3-wheel trucks as a subsidiary of the Borgward company. After the war, Goliath launched their first proper car - the GP700 in 1950. The car was intended to be small and cheap, yet innovative and modern. Its initial 700 ccm 2-cylinder engine was not known for getting speeding tickets ... so for 1951 the Goliath company in cooperation with Bosch were the first car company in the world to make fuel injection available on a commercial basis. In order to promote the sportiness and performance of the brand and this advanced engine, Goliath launched the "Goliath GP700 Sport" - a wonderfully designed sleek sporty Coupe not very unlike the just-launced Porsche. At 9800 marks, it was well above the 356 in price. The souped-up Sport was at 36HP, as opposed to the 29 in the Sedan. See an enlarged photo. |

![]() The Model 367 “BiPod” hybrid flying car designed by Burt Rutan. The team at Scaled Composites pulled out all the stops to realize the final design of the company's founder and former CTO, Burt Rutan, ahead of his retirement in April earlier this year. In just four months, the Scaled Composites team went from beginning the preliminary design to the first flight of the "BiPod", a hybrid gasoline-electric flying car that grew out of a program to develop a rapid, low-cost electric test bed using as many off-the-shelf components as possible. Rutan's Scaled Composites is the company behind a string of groundbreaking aircraft including the GlobalFlyer, along with the sub-orbital spaceplanes SpaceShipOne and SpaceShipTwo and its launch aircraft White Knight Two. But while he wasn't busy with those projects, Rutan was apparently also toying with the idea of a personal electric aircraft, including VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) and roadable concepts.
