The Bugatti Atlantic, as anyone can see after all these years,
stil a fascinating sportscar, from the rear as wel as the front.

Sunday. The De Havilland Dragon Rapide is one of the best-loved pre-war aircraft and is known to fly as a gentleman's lounge chair. A favourite of the rich and famous, no doubt because of her grace and reliability, Edward VIII as Prince of Wales always kept one at his disposal. Seeing this photograph again brings back dear memories of the flight we made from a little airfield near Anglesey, over the Sound, overlooking the dark rain clouds that were hanging above Snowdonia. It was a smooth, stable and quiet tour, almost a literary armchair adventure. Arie

Xmas trees start falling from windows.

A jet flew through the city!
Some time later the streets were relatively quiet again,
but for a long time people expected
the jet to fly overhead.

When home in Amsterdam it was snowing.
